Fenestration Must Deliver Beyond Aesthetics to Improve Comfort and Energy Efficiency” – Aparna Reddy in Window & Facade Magazine
Aparna Reddy, Executive Director, Aparna Enterprises Limited (AEL), shared her perspective on performance-led building products in a cover story in the July–August 2026 issue of Window & Facade Magazine. Titled “Fenestration Must Deliver Beyond Aesthetics to Improve Comfort and Energy Efficiency,” the feature looks at how daylighting, sustainability frameworks, product standards and lifecycle value are shaping demand for fenestration and facade solutions.
Discussing daylighting, glare control and acoustic comfort, she noted that the conversation around buildings has evolved from creating visually appealing spaces to designing environments that enhance occupant well-being and long-term efficiency. “Customers are no longer satisfied with products that serve a single purpose; they expect integrated solutions that contribute to comfort, productivity, energy efficiency, and overall building performance throughout the lifecycle of the project.”
On green building frameworks such as IGBC and LEED, supported by the National Building Code, she observed that these standards have shifted the conversation from initial project costs to long-term performance and operational efficiency. “Compliance has become more than a regulatory requirement—it has emerged as a marker of quality and future readiness.”
She also highlighted the role of certifications such as BIS, ASTM and EN in product selection: “Standards and certifications have become essential decision-making tools rather than mere technical references.”
On the industry’s transition towards passive design and net-zero-ready buildings, she said, “Manufacturers today are expected to be innovation partners rather than just product suppliers,” pointing to the value of collaborating with architects, consultants and developers from the design stage, sharing performance data and providing application support.
Addressing why similar-looking products can vary in price, she explained that raw material quality, manufacturing precision, performance testing, certifications, durability, after-sales support and warranty commitments all contribute to a product’s value. “Customers should evaluate products based on lifecycle cost rather than only upfront pricing.”
The feature appeared on pages 91–92 of Window & Facade Magazine, July–August 2026. AEL’s fenestration brands include Aparna Venster uPVC windows and doors and Alteza aluminium systems.
